Case Study: Vision Dual Scores Key Role With Football Association Of Wales (FAW)
The Football Association of Wales (FAW) is the third-oldest national organisation in the sport, having been founded way back in 1876.
Building on the success of the men’s national team’s semi-final performance in the Euro 2016 tournament, the beautiful game in Wales is stronger than ever.
As part of its commitment to investing in high-quality facilities that will develop the game at all levels, the FAW created a new National Development Centre in Wrexham, North Wales to complement its well-established Dragon Park facility in Newport, South Wales.
The £5 million complex at Colliers Park involved a huge upgrade to the facility, which was first opened in 1997 by local team Wrexham AFC.
It incorporates state-of-the-art training and analysis facilities that will not only benefit elite players, but provide the perfect pathway for the next generation of players:
- 3 full-size football pitches (one with full Wi-Fi coverage to support video analysis)
- Indoor analysis and meetings rooms, along with lecture theatres and teleconferencing facilities
The training hub incorporates an extensive Wi-Fi network to provide coverage across the site, plus a LAN network spanning the indoor facility.
Keeping the complex’s IT systems and electrical equipment up and running was a non-negotiable goal. Through Riello UPS reseller Advatek, the main project IT partner, a VSD 2200 was chosen as the ideal device to back up the vital infrastructure.
The VSD’s automatic voltage stabilisation technology also ensures that any fluctuations on the mains supply are swiftly smoothed out.
