Power Demand Response Programme
Riello UPS Ltd has partnered with KiWi Power to provide client sites running large generators (typically from 200kW) with revenue through connection to the National Grid.
Smart-Grid enabled uninterruptible power supplies such as the Riello Master UPS series, can also be connected through the same programme to generate further revenue.
KiWi Power has a contract with the National Grid to run a Smart-Grid system of connected generation capacity, allowing it to respond quickly to demands for short-term power.
Once connected, Riello UPS clients signed to the programme receive an annual connection fee, plus additional revenue each time their power protection systems are used to supply electricity to the National Grid. Annual revenues of £25,000 can be achieved (based on a generator size of 1MW). The revenue, made up from an annual fee and kWh-related payment, can be used to off-set initial capital and operational costs. The additional income can help to reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and help an organisation reduce its overall carbon footprint.
